The body and the mind have been studied for thousands of years. We wonder about its potential and what we could use it for beyond our daily routine. If we are only operating at 10% of our brainpower there is a world of possibilities available to us if we dare expand it. Many cultures, ancient and modern, have accounts of Astral Projection. It weighs into the debate of the soul, the function of our minds, and the gift of spiritual travel.
What is Astral Projection?
This is an out of body experience that occurs through sleep or meditation. During this state, you are aware of your consciousness. Despite the fact that you are dreaming or in a trance you can control what you do and are not restrained in any way. It is ‘waking up’ in a dream that you have not woken up from. During Astral Projection, you can do whatever your heart desires. You can fly, walk on water, and travel all around the world.
You can use this time during Astral Projection to help you manifest. By acting as if in your dream you can attract the same to you. It is also extremely beneficial for combating social anxiety. During your projections, you can practice talking to people and engage in conversation that you may otherwise have felt uncomfortable with.
It can help you can conquer your fears
You experience a level of freedom that you cannot have in the physical world
You can exercise your creativity and push boundaries in a safe and effective way.
Astral Projection Techniques
The easiest way to experience Astral Projection is through sleep. When we are relaxed we are able to shift paradigms and enter a new reality, compared to when we are awake. What better way to relax than to be asleep. Astral Projections are most likely to happen during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. During this period your eyes move rapidly from side to side and your brain is more active. Here are some techniques that can help you to master Astral Projection.
Set The Scene
If you want to experience Astral Projection then you need to create the right environment to do it in. Reduce the light in your bedroom as much as possible, invest in blackout blinds or curtains. Buy a good quality eye mask that will help you to keep the light out. The idea is to block out all distractions so a pair of earplugs will stop outside noises from pulling you out of your projection. Make sure that the temperature in your room is neither too hot nor too cold, keep it somewhere in the middle but more toward the cool side. These items will assist you as you attempt to Astral Project.
For this, to work you need to be as relaxed as possible. Take a hot aromatherapy bath, preferably with lavender. Have a soothing cup of camomile tea to help you feel peaceful and serene. Unplug your electronic devices that may cause distractions. Finally, go to the toilet before bed! You want to avoid the urge to visit the bathroom, especially if you’re close to having an out of body experience. You want to remain focused and in the moment.
Get familiar with your dreams and keep a record of them. As soon as you wake up in the morning write down everything that happened in your dream. Try to be as detailed as possible and note any patterns. As you try to remember your dreams you become more aware of dreaming.
When you are dreaming you experience the same level of consciousness that occurs when you are awake. To help you differentiate between being awake and asleep take a few moments throughout the day to remind yourself that you are awake. Observe your feet and hands, familiarize yourself with how they look – when you are dreaming they are distorted. Look at yourself in the mirror, in the dream world you won’t see your reflection. Also, try pushing your finger against your opposite palm. Of course, when we are awake our fingers will stop at our palm however when we are asleep it will pass straight through.
Mnemonic induction of lucid dreams (MILD).
In this technique, as you are falling asleep you tell yourself over and over again that you know that you are dreaming. This will make you aware of what is going on and can induce lucid dreams. For best results try this while doing the Wake Back to Bed technique
Wake Back to Bed Technique (WBTB)
This involves scheduling an alarm a couple of hours before they are supposed to wake up. This interrupts your sleep prior to entering the REM stage. Then, occupy yourself for anywhere between 15-90 minutes. You need this time to restore a sense of alertness, this is where your brain is awake but your body still feels asleep. Keep the intention that you will be aware that you are dreaming and allow yourself to fall asleep. It is an effective method for inducing lucid dreaming and will improve your success rate immensely.
Enjoy the experience. Ride the wave and keep it going for as long as possible. Astral Projection is a huge accomplishment that opens the doors for even more wonderful experiences to come your way. When you rise outside of your body it is important that you do not panic. You are in control of how your projection plays out. After all, this is literally about controlling your physical and spiritual reality.
Take a deep breath and explore. This is an adventure like no other. Astral Projection can pave the way for so much development and personal growth for you. If there is anything that you have wanted to combat then now is the time. If you have been too scared to do something then try it in your projection. The possibilities are endless.
